Elvin is no stranger to public housing residents, having served alongside local community leader Minister Kwame Thompson as an After School Group Leader mentoring teens at as part of the Phipps Cornerstone Community Program at Soundview Houses. As your Council Member, Elvin will fight for more educational and afterschool programming and much needed security cameras across the 5 NYCHA campuses that call District 18 home.

Worked with NYCHA and the Department of Education to assist a Daycare provider in expanding Pre-K programming at an underutilized space at Soundview Houses.

Worked with Castle Hill Houses TA President Gerri Lamb on a Domestic Violence Resource Fair in 2015 and NYPD PSA 8 to organize a Domestic Violence March in 2016 to combat the rising 911 calls on Domestic Violence.

Worked with NYCHA and Bronx River Houses TA President Norma Saunders to expedite the deadline to repair gas pipes in less than 24 hours to resolve a dangerous situation where Bronx River Houses residents had to eat out of hot plates as a result of delayed repairs.

Worked with local resident, Dorothy (Bubbles) Febus, and NYCHA to expedite deadline to fix boilers at Clason Point Gardens.

Help Elvin fight for more resources for NYCHA.
